Guild Backstory
In the year 32, a series of tragic events took place. Of those events, the Nexus War and the assault of Icecrown are the most widely remembered. But, there were a number of other conflicts that occured, that year. One of these moments of strife occured upon an island, off the western coast of Kalimdor; an island long inhabitted by kaldorei, featuring the prominent Feathermoon outpost.
It was there, that a terrible conflict erupted. The island residants found themselves besieged by a sizeable fleet of marauding pirates, who seemingly saught to loot the outpost clean. While that was a goal, in reality, there was a second: to leave no witnesses alive.
Under fire from all sides, the garrison was quickly overwhelmed.
As the pirates began to swarm its beaches, an order to exterminate the civilian populous was given. This one command would serve to be the last ever issued. Shocked an appalled, a female pirate-general emerged to contest it. She stepped forward to denounce the assault, and seeing that not all were supportive of the order, she was able to rally a significant number of pirates to her side. Under her courageous leadership, the conflict against the kaldorei came to abrupt halt, and instead, she and her men stood in their defense. A mutiny would then take place, with once-brothers raising arms against eachother. Before the sun would rise into the sky once more, the combined forces of kaldorei and ex-pirates would see the marauding pirate fleet set ablaze, and the remaining pirates either fled or were captured.
Though she, and her men, would ultimately have to face justice for their actions, they remained behind to aid the wounded and assist in rebuilding efforts.
It was on this day, that an accord was struck. The former pirate-general, and those who rallied to her side, had forsworn their past life. They swore an oath that day, to bring about change, in the world. No more would they walk the road of thieves and criminals.
A few days later, on April 23rd of the year 32, the Embersea Accord was officially declared by Marlo “Red” Rae Grayson.
Standing at its head, as High General, she charismatically set about gathering those who’d also saught to change their hand, in life. Assembling a group of individuals with a goal of providing humanitarian support throughout the world, wasn’t easy. Moreso, with the actions of their past lives lingering about.
She persisted, however, and over the next few months, found herself with more then one-hundred people of like-minds. These individuals varied wildly in background, from those seeking redemption for misdeeds, to devout followers of the Holy Light of Creation.
Now equipped with both goals, and man-power, it was time to convert ideas into actions. This proved to be a bit more difficult then one might think, however. By this time, the conflict in Northrend had expanded tremendously, putting a strain on everyone from kings, to peasants. Resources throughout all kingdoms were rationed, and controlled tightly by officials. Further, military conscription was occuring at an incredible pace, affecting everyone, including some of those who were signatories of the Embersea Accord. Still, High General Grayson desired to press on, keeping a close eye on world events. She had set her gaze upon the often ignored casualties of the war; widows, homeless, and orphans.
Seeing these groups of people as those most desperately in need of assistance, she directed the Embersea Accord to focus its attention to them. And, so began its first step toward being a hand on the shoulder, of those who truely needed support. From food and charity drives, to survival and farming techniques, the Embersea Accord has striven to stand as a beacon of hope, to those who believe the world has abandoned them.
In the year 33, a great tragedy of unimagineable magnitude occured. The wars in Northrend had concluded, only to see the very world sundered, and beset by disasters both natural and otherworldly. Devastation and loss was widespread, affecting the peoples of every kingdom.
When the earthquakes finally eased, High General Grayson dispatch scouts to all corners of the world, to assess the full scale of what had occured. As they began to filter back in, and issue reports, she was left nearly speechless. Entire communities were wiped off the map, massive flooding throughout many regions, and perhaps most troubling, the Greymane Wall had been breached by the forsaken armies.
While the Embersea Accord had already situated itself as a charitable organization, High General Grayson saw this as an oppertunity to make an even more meaningful impact upon the world. Operations expanded even further, beyond simple charity, to include activities such as clearing debris, ferrying supplies to now isolated communities, to providing work and shelter for Gilnean refugees. Furthermore, while not a military force, the Embersea Accord has also stood in defense of those being oppressed, or preyed upon, since the political climate of the world was forever altered, during the shattering.
To this day, High General Grayson-Shadowpaw, and the signatories of the Embersea Accord, continue to stand as a beacon of hope, to those who have lost so very much.
This is further assisted by a recent influx of experimental engineering experts. Having successefully manufactured devices that can facilitate anything from long-distance communication to holographic simulations of historical events for training purposes, the Embersea Accord finds itself uniquely suited to carry out its humanitarian goals of supporting the downtrodden and offering a place of respit to those seeking to turn life around.
